Then as now, they come from Friuli, the region in northeastern Italy, and were introduced to Venice in the 50s, where a few types can still be bought in some small shoe shops today. For years now the Sper Store is having them made in colored velvet and lined with cotton, making them comfortable to wear even barefoot. The soles are made from bicycle tire
