Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1927 and raised in Jamaica, McCook developed his musical talent at the renowned Alpha Boys School before becoming a leading figure in Jamaica's jazz scene. Returning from the Bahamas in 1962, he joined Coxsone Dodd at Studio One, helping
