The casket was used for storing highly prized betel nut

to the far background are boats on the banks of the Arno river

the latter trained as an artist but never reached the critical acclaim of his father

The frame is of inverted ogee form and is finely engraved

The top is inlaid with a large enameled 'Bleu Celeste' Sevres style plaque and framed with a gilded bronze ribbon, then crossbanded with rosewood, following with a band of walnut 'basket weave' parquetry, finished with another band of rosewood and a gilded bronze
