The player takes on the role of a Dwarf (Dwalli) travelling through the deep roads between dwarven settlements bearing a flame from the Great Furnace which burns within the capital city of the dwarves. The Dwarves of Stone are an ancient civilisation whose capital city Dwallinhiem lies deep within the heart of the Winter Crown Mountains. The dwarves of this world have waxed and waned but
