The throat feathers point out in all directions as they create that hauntingly hollow sound. Shoulders wings go back and the tail spreads out wide and flat. That horizontal line you see behind is the tail, spread out like a fan. They often engage the nictitating membrane, which gives the impression that theyre closing off outside distractions to concentrate
